I am an essayist and fantasy writer with pieces in places such as The Minnesota Women's Press, Strange Horizons, and Ideomancer.

I'm from a large Midwestern Irish-Catholic family on my dearly departed dad's side and a teeny-tiny Southern Methodist family on my mother's side. If you look at me closely, you can see I even walk lopsided. Other times, I just use a wheelchair.

I grew up in the Chicago and New York areas and now live in Minneapolis with my husband Jan, a punk rock stay-at-home dad; and our two boys, 5 and 7. One has straight hair, one curly. One has Asperger and Tourette Syndromes, and the other is a goofy little weirdo.

I'm an ad copywriter and obsessive bicycle commuter. I'm also a folkie: I folk dance, study Irish Gaelic, play the bodhrán (with my three sisters if I can get my hands on 'em), and listen to traditional music. I am a member of two writing groups and feel very lucky to be an SF/F writer in the Twin Cities.

I talk too much.
